Leros Dodecanese island can be found in the South Aegean Sea and is part of the Dodecanese group. It is located north of Kalymnos, near Patmos and Lipsi. North of Leros you can also visit ‘the white islands‘ as part of an organised boat trip, which we did.
Leros has a World War 2 war tunnel and museum located just outside of Lakki. The castle and windmills have views to die for at the top. Panteli is one of the prettiest resorts I have seen.
Agia Marina has a lovely windmill in the sea and pretty harbour. Dodecanese ferries come and go from here. We also saw the Blue Star Patmos ferry in the harbour.
Lakki has many sail boats, marina and harbour. Leros Dodecanese island has a traditional charm about it, with many beautiful places to visit. A landmark renown to this island is the breathtaking St Isidoros church.
Out of the 4 islands we stayed on, Leros was our favourite.
We used Dodecanese Seaways from Kalymnos to get to Leros, taking approx an hour and then Leros to Kos, taking around an hour and 45 minutes.
